Who Is?

The blogosphere, even in the realm of fisherman-bloggers, can be a shamefully anonymous place.  I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know a few bloggers better, and I enjoy knowing more about who’s behind each post and photo.  Some have been incredibly transparent, and while I’m a fatally private sort of guy, I’d like to give the same opportunity to readers who may want to know a little more about who I am beyond my fishy exploits.  So, here are some random, but related, factoids about me.

I am married to my favorite person and best friend; my wife has put up with me for 4 and a half years…and I’m amazed.

I feed 220 pounds of dogs everyday–split between our Newfoundland “Maddie” and chocolate lab “Amelia.”

I grew up learning from my father through his “man lessons” on everything from painting to love; I’ll pass every one on to my son who is 4 months old now.

My formal training is in North American archaeology and I spent about 4 seasons in the field doing it.  I miss it every summer.

I went to seminary but am not a pastor.  I wanted to teach Hebrew, but after getting accepted to three PhD programs, couldn’t afford to go.  I miss that too.

I used to rock climb until a wrist injury acquired during training shut me down for 6 months; I never really started again.

I’m stuck in a job that doesn’t give back for what it takes.

I prefer film photography and refuse to give in to digital.

I’m 30, but don’t feel any different than when I was 10.

I am an imperfect human living in perfect grace.

I have allergies.

I am restoring a 90 year-old house with my wife and I’m sort of tired of doing that.

I have a temper, but it’s fading every year.  …I hope.

My favorite country that I’ve never visited is Iceland.

Radiohead is my favorite band.

I think the solution to the problem of presidential politics is to dissolve the office.

I am slightly color blind with blues and greens.

I’ve broken my right arm twice.

I’m writing a book, but need to get serious about actually putting down words.

I think your idea of Who Is, is a great idea. Everyone should follow suit. I’d be so boring I’d have to borrow someone else’s who is.

You could post a “Guess at Who X Is.” Ha!

Will- nice to get to know you better. Those home restoration projects can stretch on forever, I’m glad it doesn’t keep you off the water, or away from your keyboard.

I have to admit this is my first visit to your blog – and I am quite impressed with the writing and the outstanding photography. I read all of your entries, and saved to the last – “Who is”, and I have to say I feel privileged to know you. I am looking forward to new entries. I am sure you will not disappoint.

Will, your writing talent is obvious. You have a way of taking the reader intimately to the places you have fished in. I look forward to more of your blog entries. The photography is superb.
